Penny Dominates D'backs As Dodgers Win

PHOENIX -- Brad Penny continued his mastery of the Arizona Diamondbacks and the National League. The right-hander earned his 10th win and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat Arizona 8-1 on Monday night.

He allowed one run and four hits in eight innings and improved to 7-2 against the Diamondbacks. Penny (10-1) lowered his NL-leading ERA to 2.04. His only loss this season came against the Los Angeles Angels on May 18.

Jonathan Broxton pitched the ninth to complete the five-hitter.

PHOENIX (AP) - Brad Penny won his tenth game by pitching the LA Dodgers over the Arizona Diamondbacks 8 to 1. The win moves the Dodgers within a half-game of the division-leading Diamondbacks.

Penny allowed one run and four hits in eight innings and improved to 7-2 lifetime against the Diamondbacks. Penny is 10-1 overall. He lowered his NL-leading ERA to 2.oh-four. His only loss this season came against LA on May 18th.

Jonathan Broxton pitched the ninth to complete the five-hitter.

CLEVELAND (AP) - CC Sabathia joined Boston's Josh Beckett as the majors' only 11-game winners by pitching the Cleveland Indians to a 5 to 2 win over Oakland.

Sabathia is 11-2. He allowed nine hits in his second complete game this month. He's 2-5 lifetime in 12 career starts against the A's.

Ryan Garko drove in two runs with a fourth-inning double off Chad Gaudin, who fell to 6-3. Travis Hafner homered for Cleveland.
