Call it a Golden opportunity for Myles and Ann Golden. And Rotary International.
For more than 30 years, Rotarians Myles and Ann Golden have shared their home, their lives and their culture with more than 30 foreign exchange students. This week, as the international organization prepares for a year that will wear a "Rotary Shares," theme, the Goldens have an ideal opportunity to share their message.
Myles Golden was inducted as the next District 7750 governor Tuesday, kicking off a project that will send the couple to 55 area Rotary clubs and more than 3,000 Rotarians in the next 12 months.

Australia's Dean Morrison eliminated Cocoa Beach's Kelly Slater from the Rip Curl Pro Search Chile on Tuesday.
Slater, an eight-time ASP world champion and the defending champion in Chile, was on the first plane out of Arica after earning his second equal ninth place finish of the season. He is currently sixth on the Foster's ASP World Tour ratings.
"At this point, it's not feeling like a World Title year for me so far," Slater said. "To lose out here, that's the fourth event that Mick (Fanning) has bettered me in and it's going to be really hard to catch him. If he stays somewhat consistent at all, he is going to be hard to catch this year. If he were to better me in just two more events this year, I don't think I could catch him. That's a fact of life and that's the reality of where we're at right now."

SAO PAULO, Brazil (AP) ? Brazil's government has added "morning after" pills to its newly expanded birth control program in hopes of helping poor people reduce unwanted pregnancies and dangerous illegal abortions.
Health Minister Jose Gomes Temporao announced the addition a month after President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said the government would provide cheap birth control pills at 10,000 drug stores across Latin America's biggest country.
Speaking at a round-table discussion Monday sponsored by the Folha de S. Paulo newspaper, Temporao called the morning-after pill "an important tool for the prevention of unwanted pregnancies that will definitely be part of our strategy" to help Brazil's poor have the same access to birth control as its rich elite.

Q: I was taken aback by your remarks about limiting the number of Brazil nuts eaten. Many years ago when I was growing up, my parents bought nuts at Christmastime. Brazil nuts were my favorites, and I ate tons of them. I continued the tradition as an adult. I ate lots myself and gave them to my children.
I have not seen Brazil nuts much recently, and I seldom eat them. But what did I do to my health and my children's with all these nuts?
Any health problems that might arise as a result of excess selenium would fade after you were no longer eating Brazil nuts or other selenium-rich foods. Selenium is a little bit like Goldilocks' porridge: You need enough, but not too much.
