More nurses, more research and a more diverse student population will be Florida Atlantic University's priorities next year as officials send a budget request to the state that focuses on the growing partnerships with local research institutes and training students to fill high-need jobs.
FAU's board of trustees will review a $14.7 million wish list Wednesday that, if approved, will face scrutiny by the Board of Governors and then head to the legislature next year.
The request is in addition to FAU's annual operating and capital budget. Each university was asked to provide a priority list of special projects to the Board of Governors by Friday so it can begin assembling its 2008-2009 budget. The board oversees Florida's 11 public universities.

They said movies, television shows and music lyrics all make sex seem commonplace. Their friends engaged in sex, and in some cases their parents were living with someone outside of marriage, they said.

SARASOTA -- Still shy of his 30th birthday, broker Clint Conway has already gone through business undulations many don't experience in an entire career.
But in the wake of his work last month on the $65 million sale of the Hyatt Sarasota to giant equity firm the Blackstone Group, Conway is hoping he -- and his nascent real estate ambitions -- are on a sustained uptick.
