It's almost a shame Deb Paquette, the chef owner of Zola, is hidden away in the kitchen because diners miss the one-woman comedy show that she is. As she paces, red flip flops smack her feet loudly, a red bun piled high on her head bobs sprightly and jokes fall endlessly and effortlessly from her mouth.
"I am known for wackiness. I've sat on the stove, in the stove, laid across the counter, sat in the flowerbed with the lavender and sage. I am a silly girl, and old and sassy, but I still have muscle in my arms," said the 50-year-old, who is one of the city's most revered culinary talents.
Her flair for the wild is what makes her menu so exotic. And it's her creations, like the pistachio salmon and brie and the pineapple, smoked onion and ginger grilled cheese sandwich with mango salsa and banana lime butter that landed Zola on Gourmet magazine's Top 60 list and the New York City-based City magazine's Top 100 list.

COLUMBIA -- Former South Carolina associate head coach Jim Toman has been named the head baseball coach at Liberty University. Toman recently completed his 11th year on head coach Ray Tanner's staff at South Carolina, where he helped the Gamecocks to a 46-20 record and the squad's eighth-straight 40-plus winning season.
"I am elated for our university, and more specifically our baseball program, to have Jim Toman become our sixth head coach," stated Liberty athletics director Jeff Barber. He has spent the last 18 years under one of the top head coaches in the country, and is fully prepared to run his own program.
"Furthermore, after talking to dozens of college coaches, major league scouts and front office personnel, it became quite apparent coach Toman carries with him the reputation as one of the top evaluators of baseball talent in the country. This is a great day for Liberty baseball."
