He's expected to miss at least two games.

Morneau was injured yesterday in a collision with Florida Marlins catcher Miguel Olivo. He spent the night in the hospital and Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said he was to see a specialist at the hospital late this afternoon before being released.

Morneau had a streak of 191 consecutive games going into tonight's game at Florida -- the fourth-longest among active players. The streak is now ending.

New generation of pitchers eagerto pick up torch of veterans

Perhaps it was the exuberance. Perhaps it was the obvious talent. There was something about Florida Marlins pitcher Dontrelle Willis that made Atlanta veteran John Smoltz approach the 21-year-old rookie during the 2003 season.

Willis was floored. He couldn't believe that a player in the midst of building a Hall-of-Fame resume was seeking him out to share some advice.

Willis, now in his fifth full season in the big leagues and still just 25, has had many chances to chat with Smoltz since. The message is simple but resounding.
