New 'Harry Potter' Film Premieres In Tokyo

TOKYO -- Japan rolled out the red carpet Thursday for the world premiere of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," the fifth movie from J.K. Rowling's megahit fantasy series.

Hundreds of young Japanese fans, many wearing witch costumes and holding magic wands, screamed when Daniel Radcliffe appeared as white smoke spewed on the stage.

"Japanese fans are the best!" Radcliffe, dressed in a white suit, said in simple Japanese.

UN monitors visit NKorea reactor site

PYONGYANG, North Korea (AP) ? U.N. nuclear monitors returned Friday from a trip to North Korea's plutonium-producing reactor, saying the facility has not been shut down yet but that they were satisfied with their visit there.

The team returned to Pyongyang from the Yongbyon reactor complex, about 60 miles northeast of the North Korean capital, Kyodo News agency reported from the city.

"We visited all the places which we were planning to," IAEA Deputy Director Olli Heinonen said in footage shot by APTN. He added: "The cooperation was excellent and now we continue the meetings ... in Pyongyang."

UNESCO committee renames Auschwitz

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) -- UNESCO designated a city in Iraq where mosques have come under attack as an endangered world cultural treasure Thursday and revised its name for the Auschwitz death camp in Poland to emphasize Nazi Germany's role. The United Nations' heritage group also took the unprecedented step of removing world heritage status from Oman's Arabian Oryx Sanctuary site, home to the rare antelope. Stocks end flat following Fed comments

NEW YORK (AP) -- Stocks finished flat Thursday after the Federal Reserve said the economy appeared to be growing at a "moderate" pace but offered a cautious reading on inflation. The Dow Jones industrial average, which at one point had been up 70 points after the Fed decision, ended down 5.45, or 0.04 percent, at 13,422.28. Broader stock indicators finished mixed. Oct. launch planned for `.asia' domain

NEW YORK (AP) -- Internet addresses ending in ".asia" will be open to governments and trademark owners starting in October, with general registrations coming in 2008.
