For young attorneys, career success traditionally means forgoing friends, family and even sleep to rack up as many billable hours as possible and make partner. But some in Arizona's newest crop of attorneys are seeking a balance between what they do for the bottom line and what they do for the community.
"I just really, really, really believe that the key to life is giving," said Jon Frank, a real estate attorney at the Phoenix office of Snell & Wilmer, one of the largest firms in the Western states. "Magical things happen when you do good stuff."
He started on his charitable path as a newbie attorney - he's now 35 - with a young family. One night at the dinner table, he and his wife, Christy, were telling their daughters about the importance of giving back when the then 5- and 4-year-olds decided they should give their toys to other children during the holidays.
