ANAHEIM, Calif. — In the same city, in the same ballpark, but a generation ago, fans would chant "Reg-gie! Reg-gie!" in the late innings, longing for Reggie Jackson to smack a towering home run.
It's amusing to hear the same chant these days for a "Punch and Judy" hitter who would seem an unlikely hero for a Los Angeles Angels team tied for 24th in home runs entering Thursday yet with the most wins in baseball.
Outfielder Reggie Willits never really dug the long ball. His idol: quintessential leadoff man Kenny Lofton.

With the All-Star Game just over a week away, the 2007 season has had more than its share of surprises -- none bigger than the Milwaukee Brewers. One of the reasons for the surge in Milwaukee is a pair of emerging hitters who are making as much of a difference for the team as any established superstar could. Several other contending teams can also attribute a big part of their success to up-and-comers.

Joe Saunders showed the Colorado Springs Sky Sox what hes been doing in the American League.
Saunders, the Salt Lake left-hander, led the Bees to a 5-2 victory Thursday before 2,702 fans at Security Service Field.
That sets up a rubber match in todays finale of the three-game series with first place the prize. The Sky Sox (42-35) lead the Bees (44-37) by .002 in the Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division.
