The song, "Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)" was written by Mickey Newbury and first recorded by Jerry Lee Lewis in 1967, but became a hit when The First Edition recorded the song in 1968 when Kenny Rogers was lead guitarist. Newbury wrote the song to inform listeners of the dangers of using the psychedelic drug LSD.
People seek pleasure in many ways and often abusing the means of how they obtain the pleasure they seek. Some people seek pleasure in order to camouflage or hide the pain they are going through, such as: broken relationships, lost jobs, domestic violence, sexual abuse and the list could go on.
Folks need to take a good hard look at the condition they are in and why they are in the condition they are in. Often, people find themselves in a pitiful condition just by the choices they made and often those choices have serious consequences.

BERNOS-BEAULAC, France --By the time he saw the black Mercedes barreling into his lane, there was nothing Mitt Romney could do.
He was 21, buoyed by a recent promotion, a young man finally on his way. Two years of getting doors slammed in his face as a Mormon missionary in France had tested him like nothing before in his privileged life, revealing a drive and seriousness that had been absent during his breezy childhood. Now he was the assistant to the president, a top job in the French mission, and behind the wheel of a luxury silver Citroen packed with church officials visiting congregations in southern France.
He knew these roads were dangerous. That very afternoon in June of 1968, on the way from Pau to Bordeaux, he had pulled over to remove a roof rack lying in the middle of the road, a remnant of an earlier accident.

For many baby boomers, the summer of 1967 was a time of innocence, idealism and optimism.
Pop culture historians called it "The Summer of Love," but to understand it you had to be there.
Yes, people wore flowers in their hair and experimented with the psychedelic drug, LSD. Yes, it was era known for sexual promiscuity and rebellious attitudes.

The Laclede County Sheriffs Department reports 76 arrests made at a safety checkpoint set from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday on Route E about five miles northwest of Eldridge.
Those included 28 misdemeanor citations for possessing less than 35 grams of marijuana, 20 misdemeanor citations for drug paraphernalia possession, 14 traffic-related offenses, two citations for felonies of marijuana possession, one citation for a felony of LSD possession, one citation for a felony of possessing hallucinogenic mushrooms, three citations to minors in possession of alcohol and seven warrant arrests.
Twenty-five officers and three K-9 units were involved. Agencies involved included the Dallas County Sheriffs Office and Posse, the Missouri State Highway Patrol drug and crime control division, the Missouri State Water Patrol, the Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group, the Lebanon Police Department K-9 unit and the Missouri Department of Conservation.
