Quest for holy grail often means trip through hell

The holy grail of economic development is “technology transfer,” which occurs when a product or process is developed in a lab for a limited purpose but is easily tweaked for mass-market application.

Michael F. Moore, M.D., is medical director of the Wound Institute in Dunmore and president of Wound Management Consultants. He treats patients at his office and also researches ways to mend the stubborn wounds of people with diseases that impede normal healing.

Dr. Moore works with Noble Fiber Technologies (whose roots go back to the old Scranton mainstay, Sauquoit) to develop products that use silver in such innovative ways. One of his current projects with Noble Fiber involves a foam product, to be used as an alternative to gauze, treated with both silver and a blood-clotting agent.

'Guys and Dolls' opens for 10-show run

In keeping with the Community Arts Theater Society’s mission to provide affordable, live, theater experiences for all, “Guys and Dolls” will open June 28 at the Big Bear Lake Performing Arts Center with a special discount preview. General seating is available. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m.“Guys and Dolls” also plays at 7:30 p.m. on June 29-30, July 2-3 and 5-7.
