TORONTO - Telus Corp. pulled out of the bidding for BCE Inc., Canada's biggest telecommunications company, saying on Tuesday it could not submit an offer because of "the inadequacies of BCE's bid process."

THERE ARE spots in Long Beach where you can still imagine that the city basks in the glow of an uncomplicated pre-World War II world.
There is an air of the 1930s right near the corner of Fourth Street and Pacific Avenue. Just south is the Dolly Varden Hotel, decorated with an elegant neon sign and boasting "A Bath in Every Room." Just a block away is the Farmer's and Merchant's Bank building, with its own neon sign. The Kress Building is across the way, and the neighborhood boasts a shoe store, a small bakery and the regular passing trolley cars of the Blue Line.
All the neighborhood needs is a friendly, home-style restaurant, a place for family and friends to gather for meals and celebration.
