Access regs hearing held

Tuesday, June 26, 2007

LOGAN - The second public hearing on the proposed Access Management Regulations for driveways was held Thursday evening at the 911 building.

The current rules that were implemented in 1998 apply to only new driveways. However, under the proposed plan almost all driveways would be blanketed under one set of regulations. Subdivisions are the exception for the regulations, per Ohio Revised Code, because they typically must meet stricter standards. In Hocking County, there were no regulations for driveways at all prior to 1998.

The new rules also would apply to existing driveways whose owners wish to modify them with significant construction. Driveways that aren't being changed in any way would not be included in the regulations.
