NASA on Thursday moved up the next scheduled space shuttle mission by two days, to Aug. 7, to give Endeavour more chances to lift off during what looks to be a busy month.
Mission managers wanted to make sure the shuttle's launch did not conflict with the launches of a robotic geologist to Mars and a military communications satellite, both also planned for August.
Endeavour will deliver another truss segment to the International Space Station. The seven-member crew includes Barbara Morgan, who was selected with Christa McAuliffe more than two decades ago for NASA's Teacher in Space project.

PRESCOTT - Educators got their own course in water conservation Wednesday, thanks to the nationwide Project WET program.
The WET stands for Water Education for Teachers, and the University of Arizona carries out the program in this state with the help of numerous sponsors, including the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, Arizona Department of Water Resources and the City of Prescott.
Teachers from throughout Yavapai County and the region attended the workshop alongside people who administer water conservation programs.

Former Delta native, Commander Timothy J. Espinoza, was assigned to duties in support of the space shuttle Atlantis’ consequence management Joint Task Force (JTF) at Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral, Fla. According to Espinoza, in a Mode VIII contingency the shuttle would have experienced damage or malfunction while in flight and would be attempting to return to the launch site at Kennedy Space Center. This is an automated, computer-controlled flight, however the damage or malfunction may prevent the shuttle from successfully reaching the launch site, requiring an over-ocean crew bailout. The bailout requires the Joint Task Force to execute a thoroughly planned and rehearsed search and rescue operation followed by medical evacuation of the astronauts for treatment.
