The genre-blind duo of Big Kenny Alphin and John Rich has steadily blurred the boundaries between country, rock, folk, pop and hip-hop over the course of a relatively short career. These aw-shucks ambassadors of a big-tent mentality have amassed a small empire of co-conspirators, each of whom routinely delivers songs that fall just left of country musics center.

The call might not be as tough as the one he had to make over the weekend, but just because the fate of his contract with the Orlando Magic was put in the hands of lawyers didn't mean Billy Donovan's decision-making was done.
Settlement negotiations to void Donovan's five-year, $27.5 million contract with the Magic continued Tuesday as the coach sought to clear the path for his return to the University of Florida. And though the provisions inside that original deal are unknown -- including a potential buyout clause -- local and national law professors agreed that the Magic would have the legal position to enforce a few stipulations on the coach before granting his release.

WILMINGTON, Del. -- Dorothy Warbritton never worked in the business for which her family is known, Dunn Hardware and later Dunn Lumber, but chose to make her mark on the world in elementary education.
Warbritton, 87, a graduate of Mainland High School, Daytona Beach, and a 1942 graduate of Stetson University, DeLand, died Friday at home.
"She taught at Volusia Avenue School," said her sister, Margaret Withers, Ormond Beach. "That's where she started out teaching."

The Magic's next target as coach appears to be Heat executive Stan Van Gundy.
GAINESVILLE - The strange saga of Billy Donovan and the Orlando Magic might be coming to an end.
Days after Donovan stunned the Magic by asking to be released from his contract, lawyers for both sides met Tuesday and moved closer to finalizing a deal. Donovan resigned Friday from Florida and signed a contract to become the Magic coach. Shortly after, he began to change his mind.
