VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani on Tuesday accused former President Bill Clinton of not responding forcefully enough to the 1993 World Trade Center bombing or later terrorist attacks.
The former New York mayor accused Democrats of weakness and naivete in dealing with terrorism. "Many people think the first attack on America was on Sept. 11, 2001," he said. "It was not. It was in 1993."
Giuliani argued that Clinton treated the World Trade Center bombing as a criminal act instead of a terrorist attack, calling his reaction "a big mistake" that emboldened other strikes.

Conjuring images of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and evoking the mantle of Ronald Reagan, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani said Tuesday that Democrats vying for the White House were in denial about terrorism.
Giuliani sounded exactly like a front-runner for the Republican nomination for president, accusing Democrats of being unable to confront Islamic terrorism.
"Islamic terrorists want to kill us. That is the predominant issue of our day," Giuliani said, drawing a standing ovation from a luncheon crowd of about 650 at Pat Robertson's Regent University in Virginia Beach. The Democrats "are in denial. I think they can't face this threat."

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Prosecutors played a video clip of a famous 1997 interview with Osama bin Laden Tuesday as part of their terrorism support case against former Jose Padilla and two other men.
U.S. District Judge Marcia Cooke allowed jurors to see the controversial video because Padilla's co-defendants, Adham Amin Hassoun and Kifah Wael Jayyousi, discussed the CNN broadcast on wiretapped phone calls.
During the roughly seven-minute clip, bin Laden berates the United States for supporting Israel and maintaining troops in Saudi Arabia. He praises the killings of U.S. soldiers in Somalia and the 1996 bombing of Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia that left 19 U.S. servicemen dead.

Many Republicans still put party loyalty above national loyalty. Party loyalty blinded them when Democrats and Independents could see that Mark Foley didn't represent Charlotte's family values. It took a sleazy Congressional page scandal and admissions of alcoholism for these Republican zealots to finally see the truth.
Failing to see the wisdom of Independents and Democrats, these same party-above-nation Republicans have now bungled the war against terrorism. Ignoring wise advice, they have allowed our enemies to believe they can defeat our military. This is very dangerous. In less than two years a majority of Independents and Democrats who do consistently put our nation above party politics will be electing a competent leader who these terrorists might now misjudge.
Instead of using our military as a substitute for diplomacy and international policing, it will be used competently to back up operations. A military skilled in the use of stealth bombers should not be misused as neighborhood cops in Baghdad. The only chance our enemy will ever have of outfighting our troops is in their ghettos; yet that's exactly where bungling, party-first Republicans have put our soldiers.
